Southern Hoppin' John Ingredients
Rehydrate the beans overnight or for at least 6 to 8 hours in cold water.
Then drain and thoroughly rinse the bans. They are now ready to cook!
Saute onions, ham hock, and garlic in a medium pot for 6 to 7 minutes.
Add remaining ingredients, cover, and simmer for 45 to 60 minutes.
Season with salt and pepper and serve over hot cooked rice.
