This heart-shaped cake is the perfect dessert to say "I love you!" It's made with 3 layers of chocolate cake, cherry pie filling, and both classic and chocolate whipped cream.

How to Make a Heart-Shaped Chocolate Cake

First, make a fluffy meringue by beating egg whites and sugar.

In another bowl combine dry cake ingredients. Then mix in wet ingredients.

Next, gently fold the meringue into the chocolate cake batter. 

Evenly spread the batter into 3 heart-shaped baking pans. Bake 18-20 minutes.

Cool for 5 minutes in the pan. Release each cake and cool on a wire rack.

When the cakes are completely cool, make the whipped cream.

Spread 2/3 of the whipped cream on the bottom layer of chocolate cake.

Then add 1/2 of the cherry pie filling. Repeat with the second layer of cake.

Top with cherries and frost sides with chocolate whipped cream.

Pipe the remaining whipped cream all around the cherries.
