    Why You'll Love This Recipe

    • It looks fancy… but it's secretly so easy.
    • It uses rotisserie chicken to save time (my favorite weeknight shortcut) just like my recipes for Baked Chicken Tacos, Chicken and Dumplings with Biscuits, and Chicken Divan.
    • Perfectly shareable for parties, potlucks, or game-day grazing.
    • Like my recipes for Creamy Skillet Chicken with Bacon and Mushrooms and Creamy Chicken and Bacon Pasta, the classic trio, chicken, bacon, and ranch, never fails to win hearts (or stomachs).
    • Like my recipe for Pigs in a Blanket, the refrigerated crescent dough bakes up golden, buttery, and crisp every time.
    • Leftovers reheat beautifully, and you can reinvent them into wraps, quesadillas, or stuffed peppers.

Main Ingredient Notes and Easy Substitutions

Ingredients for Chicken Bacon Ranch Crescent Ring include two rolls of purchased crescent roll dough.

Let's talk ingredients: what you need, what you can swap, and how to make it work with what's in your pantry. The full list is waiting down in the recipe card.

    • Chicken – Rotisserie chicken is your best friend here; it adds flavor and moisture and saves precious prep time on busy nights. If you do cook chicken from scratch, make sure it's well seasoned so the filling doesn't fall flat.
    • Bacon – Use thick-cut for great texture, or go with turkey bacon for a lighter twist. The recipe calls for cooking it in a single batch using the stack-and-slice method, an absolute time-saver. (I've made crescent rings in every imaginable flavor combo over the years, and using evenly chopped bacon helps the filling stay consistent and easy to fold.)
    • Cream Cheese – Softened cream cheese helps bind everything together into a lush, creamy filling. Neufchâtel works beautifully if you want to lighten it up.
    • Cheese – Sharp cheddar brings the best flavor, but Colby Jack melts like a dream. Use what you have; this recipe is wonderfully forgiving.
    • Ranch Dressing – Use the thick, refrigerated kind for the richest flavor. Greek yogurt ranch or homemade ranch seasoning mixed with sour cream also works well.
    • Crescent Rolls – Two standard cans of refrigerated crescent rolls are perfect. If you can find crescent sheets, even better, just cut them into triangles.

    Recipe Variations and Twists

    • Buffalo Ranch Crescent Ring - Add a splash of buffalo sauce and swap ranch for blue cheese dressing.
    • BBQ Chicken Ring - Replace the ranch with barbecue sauce and sprinkle diced red onion inside.
    • Southwest Chicken Ring - Add taco seasoning and a spoonful of green chiles for a Tex-Mex spin.
    • Holiday Party Ring - Mix in diced pimentos or sliced green onions for festive color.

How to Make Chicken Bacon Ranch Crescent Ring

This is a summary of the steps; the complete directions are in the recipe card below.

    1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper (or use a baking stone for even browning).
A bowl of cooked chicken, bacon, ranch dressing, and cheese.
Crescent rolls are arranged in a circle with the points facing outward.
    1. Mix the filling: In a medium bowl, combine the chicken, six slices of chopped bacon, cream cheese, half the shredded cheese, ranch dressing, garlic powder, pepper, and green onions.
    1. Build the crescent ring: Arrange crescent triangles in a circle with the wide ends slightly overlapping and the points facing outward. Press the inner seams to form a solid ring. Tip: Set a small bowl in the center to help guide your shape.
Chicken Bacon Ranch filling is spread out over the crescent roll dough.
    1. Add the filling evenly around the ring.

    Serving Ideas

This crescent ring is endlessly flexible. Serve it:

    • As a casual weeknight dinner with a green salad, coleslaw, or roasted veggies.
    • On a game-day snack table, next to air-fried lemon pepper chicken wings, loaded fries, or corn dip with cream cheese.
    • As a holiday appetizer with dips like my Caramelized Onion Dip, BLT Dip, or Baked Crab, Spinach and Artichoke Dip
    • With extra ranch, sour cream, hot sauce, or even buffalo sauce for dipping.

    Recipe FAQs

How do I store leftover chicken bacon ranch crescent ring?

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

How do I reheat a crescent roll ring without drying it out?

Reheat individual slices in the microwave for 30-45 seconds or warm larger portions at 350°F for 10-12 minutes.

Can you freeze a chicken bacon ranch crescent ring?

Yes. Freeze baked slices up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge and reheat as usual.

Can I prep this crescent ring ahead of time?

Yes! Assemble the ring, refrigerate tightly covered, and bake within 24 hours. Add 3-4 extra minutes to the bake time.

How can I repurpose my leftover chicken bacon ranch crescent ring?

Turn leftovers into quick lunch wraps, stuffed bell peppers, or gooey quesadillas.

Tips for Perfect Results Every Time

    • Soften the cream cheese fully, it blends more smoothly and prevents chunky filling.
    • Make sure the crescent seams are sealed so the filling stays put.
    • Add a tiny sprinkle of cheese between each crescent triangle for extra pull-apart "wow."
    • Don’t skip the 5-minute cool time; it helps the ring set for cleaner slices.
    • Using a baking stone creates beautiful, even browning.
    • If the top browns too quickly, tent lightly with foil.

    Ingredients

    • 3 cups chopped or shredded chicken I use a rotisserie chicken or this oven-baked chicken breasts recipe
    • 8 slices bacon cooked and crumbled, divided
    • 6 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
    • 2 cups shredded cheddar or Colby Jack cheese, divided
    • ½ cup ranch dressing
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • Freshly cracked black pepper to taste (try about 15 twists of a grinder)
    • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions or chives, plus more for topping
    • 2 cans refrigerated crescent rolls 8 each, 16 total
    • Optional for serving: extra ranch dressing sour cream, hot sauce

    Instructions

    • Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or use a round baking stone if you have one for more even browning.
    • In a medium bowl, combine chicken, 6 slices chopped bacon, cream cheese, half of the cheese, ranch dressing, garlic powder, black pepper, and 1 tablespoon green onions until evenly coated.
    • Arrange the crescent rolls in a ring on the baking sheet with the wide ends overlapping slightly to form a circle, points facing outward. Press to seal the inner edges. Spoon the chicken mixture evenly around the center of the ring.
    • Fold the points of the crescent rolls over the filling and tuck them underneath to enclose.
    • Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheese and 2 slices of crumbled bacon over the top. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and crisp. Remove from oven and sprinkle a few chopped green onions over the top.
    • Let rest 5 minutes before cutting and serving with extra ranch or sour cream.

    Notes

The quickest way to cook crumbled bacon is to remove all 8 slices from the package at once and place them on a cutting board. You don’t need to line them up perfectly. Just slice through the stack into roughly ¼-inch pieces. Add everything to a 10- to 12-inch skillet and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the bacon is browned and some fat has rendered. Use a slotted spoon to transfer to a paper towel to drain. Once cooled, you can chop the pieces smaller if desired. This method lets you cook all 8 slices at once, rather than in smaller batches, saving time and cleanup.
When forming the crescent ring, place a small dipping bowl in the center to help visualize the circle. Start by arranging 4 crescent triangles in 4 different directions, then add one triangle just to the clockwise side of each. Continue working around the circle until all triangles are used. This method helps create an even, well-spaced ring.
